The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs notifies Romanian citizens currently in, transiting through, or planning to visit Italy that, according to data from Italian authorities, until the afternoon of August 23, 2025, the areas of Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, and Marche will experience adverse weather conditions and significant flooding. Recent heavy rains have led to a swift increase in river levels, creating an imminent threat of overflow and landslides. In Tuscany, the regions at highest risk include the Livorno province, the stretch between Cecina and Piombino, Elba Island, and the provinces of Pisa and Grosseto. Emilia-Romagna has issued an orange alert for severe weather in the provinces of Bologna, Piacenza, Parma, Reggio-Emilia, Modena, Ravenna, Forli Cesena, and Rimini, which also includes towns in the Apennine Mountains area. In Marche, the provinces of Ancona, Macerata, Fermo, and Ascoli are impacted, with the most severe conditions in the Pesaro Urbino province. The effect could be especially pronounced in rural regions and near waterways, where infrastructure previously sustained considerable damage from severe flooding in past years. Local authorities in the affected regions have enacted emergency protocols, advising against non-essential travel. All events and activities planned in parks, gardens, and other at-risk locations have been canceled.
